aside from taking photographs love and the things in between, what i love about this job is i get the chance to know people from different walks of life in different parts of the world.
recently, i got to photograph a wedding in paris. a wedding that’s considered as impossible by many. impossible if you know the story of these individuals in these photos. macky and honey are both working in paris. getting to paris to work is one tough test. if only i could share how hard they have to go through but words would not be enough how to describe the pain and the sacrifices. moving forward to this wedding, this union is one proof that love conquers all — all the pain and all the happiness, and everything that comes with it.
i met macky, who also dabbles photography in between his job, during a workshop i conducted in paris two years ago. no wonder, he is very keen on choosing not just the usual locations for the shoot. we drove as far as 800 kilometers just to have monte-st-michel as our backdrop for their engagement session. though, it’s quite unfortunate because it was raining the whole time. thank God, we had another chance to shoot around the city of love days before their wedding. it also gave us the chance to know them well and how their love for each other prosper, even if they consider their relationship as love between land and water { in french : l’amour entre la mer et la terre }.
again, thank you so much macky and honey. i appreciate you both more beyond your kindness and generosity. thank you for giving me this chance to immortalize not just a love story but a story of both struggle and victory.
enjoy the photos.
